Montserrat open to ALL Fully Vaccinated visitors not only the “Super rich”

The Covid 19 pandemic has caused destinations around the world to be innovative in their strategies to be able to attract visitors to their shores. Montserrat is no exception, the island spent 18 months being completely closed to visitors, with the exception of Montserratians, residents and homeowners. In February 2021, the island launched its Remote Workers Stamp, which affords visitors the opportunity to live and work in a quiet, friendly, community-oriented island for up to twelve months. The island’s dramatic landscape, awe-inspiring volcano, ebony sand beaches and abundance of nature provides the perfect backdrop to work productively.

The application process is relatively easy, and upon payment of the non-refundable fees of USD$500 (single applicant) or USD$750 (families with up to 3 dependents), it is processed within seven days. To ensure that the applicant has the means to support him/herself, spouse/partner, and any other family members accompanying them an income threshold of US$70,000 is a pre-requisite. The applicants who have experienced the island have expressed their satisfaction in choosing Montserrat and recommends it to fellow remote workers, “If you’re looking for a place to actually come relax and do your work and become integrated into the life of the community Montserrat is the place” David Cort (May – July 2021). However, as of October 1, 2021 the island will open its borders to all fully vaccinated visitors. This phased approach to welcoming more visitors to Montserrat is the Government’s strategic way of managing the potential for the spread of COVID-19 throughout the local community. Visitors have the freedom of choice to stay up to ninety days or apply for the Remote Workers Stamp and live like a local for up to one year. Vaccinated visitors will be required to quarantine in the comfort of their accommodation for five days. A PCR or RNA Test will be taken on day three or four, and once negative, visitors can explore the island at their leisure.
